Magazine Designer (B2B), Publishing (maternity cover)

We are looking for a Magazine Designer (B2B) to work across a wide range of print products in support of the production team. The role will involve multitasking and quality assurance to get all jobs produced on schedule, within budget and error free.

Initially working alongside the Group Production Manager to understand the department’s internal systems, working practices and ethos, you will then be managing your own monthly publication. In addition to this you will liaising closely with the Events department in the layout of the conference handbooks plus supporting graphics and signage.

This is a great opportunity for someone with prior magazine production experience looking to join a forward-thinking and innovative company for a one year full time contract in our Enfield office, with the future potential to get involved with web design, video and photography.


  • Manage the production and creative of a monthly B2B publication from layout to print, adhering to the schedule.
  • Advertisement copy chasing, quality control and pre-flighting. Occasional design of client adverts.
  • Design and layout of events conference handbooks, stage banners, digital signage and all other supporting materials.
  • Quality assurance and proofing of all materials produced. Displaying an ability in problem-solving issues that may arise.
  • Developing and building rapport with key external suppliers and customers.
  • Maintain close relationships, communication and coordination between internal departments.
  • Active in verbalising ideas and/or feedback within the monthly production meetings.

Key skills/experience

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar print production role.
  • Intermediate-advanced Apple Mac (not PC) skills: InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills, oral and written.
  • Diligent and high attention to detail.
  • Multitasking, coping well under pressure and meeting deadlines.
  • Team player with a ‘can do’ attitude.
  • Experience liaising with printing companies and pre-media suppliers a bonus.

As we expand our conference portfolio, we require Event Producers at both management and senior management level, to develop high quality, multi-stream agendas based on sound research and a clear understanding of the dynamics of the subject matter.

Essential Skills and Qualities

  • Individuals who are driven by results and aim to succeed.
  • Experience in producing commercial conference programmes and acquiring top level speakers.
  • Sound understanding of the commercial realities of both small and large-scale events.
  • Excellent research skills with a forward- thinking commercial focus.
  • Good project management skills and an ability to multi-task.
  • Cultural awareness in diverse geographical locations.
  • Experience in Asia, South America and the US is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of the maritime, offshore and energy industries is an advantage, but not essential.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Responsibility for multiple large-scale events as well as new event launches.
  • Creating high quality, multi-stream agendas and attracting senior level buy-side speakers as well as services or technology providers and associations.
  • Undertake research at all stages of the event development cycle for presentation to senior management.
  • Work to a fixed event production cycle that engages all the relevant stakeholders both internally and externally, including advisory panels, sales and marketing and in-house content experts in the relevant subject matter.
  • Work with the in-house data team to identify the relevant contact data required for both audience acquisition and commercial opportunities.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the event development and production process as part of the wider strategic objectives for the business.
  • Travel nationally and internationally to research and develop the successful deliver of events in your portfolio.
